Physiotherapy Overview

Having been a senior physiotherapist in the NHS and also working in the sporting world for both rugby and football teams Neil has broad experience of diagnosing and treatming all kinds of problems including regular aches and pains, sporting injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation.  Neil also continually strives to increase his knowledge with post graduate training including the highly regarded MACP qualification, one of the most respected qualifications within physiotherapy.  

Acute injuries require effective management to ensure the quickest recovery possible.  Long term problems with no obvious cause need thorough investigation to identify why that area is ‘breaking down’ and not recovering.  This may be down to muscle imbalances, joint tightness, postural issues or poor movement patterns. 

Treatment will include ‘hands on’ techniques where Neil will treat the painful area using treatment that is supported by medical research/evidence.  You will also have exercises to do and possibly corrections to make to posture or movement patterns.  A full list of possible treatments is as follows:

  • - Joint mobilisation/manipulation

Neil will use evidence based practice to assess, diagnose and treat your condition.  Neil has undertaken vast post graduate training to ensure that he is up to date with the most recent developments within physiotherapy.  You will learn the source of your pain, why that area has ‘broken down’, how Neil can help you on the road to recovery and importantly how you can help yourself as well. 

Long Term Solution

Neil will have identified any factors that contributed to your current pain.  To resolve your problem and prevent recurrence you may have exercises to do, postural corrections to make and habits to change.  The goal of your treatment is that you recover as quickly as possible and have the exercises and advice in place to prevent a future recurrence of your problem, keeping you healthy and active in the long term.
