Neil Aitken

Having previously worked as a senior physiotherapist in the NHS Neil moved into private practice to work with patients from the moment they developed their pain through to full recovery.  Neil has also worked in several sporting environments including rugby, football, squash and endurance events/races.  To keep his knowledge and skills at a high level Neil has undertaken post graduate training including the prestigious MACP qualification, one of the most highly regarded qualifications within physiotherapy.  Neil uses the latest evidence based practice to diagnose your problem accurately and provide the most clinically proven treatment available to assist you in your recovery.  Neil’s philosophy is that you must diagnose the current problem and also identify why this problem started.  Altering the cause of the problem is the path to long term prevention.  So Neil will help you to recover from your pain as quickly as possible and will put in place a self management plan to help to prevent any future recurrence of the problem.

Neil will use any of the following techniques: ‘hands on’ manual therapy and massage techniques, exercises to strengthen or stretch affected tissue, postural corrections, acupuncture, taping and general advice on what to do or what not to do.

Neil was also the first physiotherapist in Scotland to qualify as a certified Medical Professional with The Titleist Performance Institute.  As such Neil works with golfers of all levels from Tour Professionals through to club golfers.  His work in this area is split between performance enhancement and the treatment of injured golfers.  Please refer to the TPI and Golf Specific Physio sections of the website for more information on this.
